DIY All Natural Baby Wipe Solution

As I shared in my post “What is in your baby wipes?” many of the baby wipes on the market are filled with unnecessary ingredients  I would rather not expose my child to if at all possible. Even if ingredients don’t make you want to choose an alternative, the waste you are creating from them or even the cost may make you think twice. So I would love to share with you a very cost effective natural solution that has worked well for our little family. **This is the recipe for solution only. I typically use flannel homemade wipes that I can easily wash with cloth diapers. I will share a super easy DIY with you for that very soon!

All Natural Cloth Wipe Solution

Cloth Wipe Solution*I usually make this in small batches (this recipe is perfect for most standard small to medium spray bottles) since I live in a teeny tiny home at the moment. But you could very well double or triple your batch if you wanted to make more at a time.

12 oz Distilled Water

3-4 Drops Dr. Bronners Baby Mild Unscented Liquid Castile Soap

1 Drop Pure Tea Tree Essential Oil

1 Dab (a drop if liquified, a little goes a long way) Unrefined Organic Coconut Oil

1 Drop Lavender Oil (optional)

Mix all together in a spray bottle shake well. Enjoy!

**I must note rather it be from ECing or using this solution Little h. has NEVER had diaper rash in her almost 10 months of life thus far.**

Ingredient notes:

Dr. Bronners is a very mild soap that can be used for many different things (many of which I will share in upcoming posts here at lightgreenmothering), so it is more than worth the investment. It can be found in many health food stores and even in some Target stores in the natural cosmetic section. Tea Tree Oil has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic qualitites. Making it a great addition to tushy wipe solution and again many other DIY items around the home. Coconut oil is great for most everything, and is a great moisturizer for the skin in this case. Lavender Oil is one of my most favorite scents and can be subbed for your choice of essential oil.

I hope you enjoy this DIY tip and come to enjoy it for your babies!

  2. love dr bronners. good idea H! those baby wipes are nasty – pampers, huggies… I just do not understand the need for all these chemicals.

  3. This is great. We also EC and use cloth wipes, but only with water followed by a little coconut oil. I’ll have to try the recipe for a little added cleanliness. Thanks!

  7. hi there- quick question, would the coconut oil not leave a small amount of residue on cloth diapers, when in the wash? thus affecting the absorbency?
